As we all know the end of 2016 is near and since 2017 is lurking around the corner most people decide to write down their new year’s resolutions… People make promises to themselves and to others they can’t keep, gyms and health clubs are selling more membership cards this week then they do the rest of the year and 90% of the smokers have the intention to stop when the clock strikes midnight on December 31st.
I am going to be honest with you guys, I used to be one of them. I promised myself I would drink less alcohol and eat more veggies and fruits about a million times. I bought membership cards to gyms I never went to and instead of taking a 3 month trial, I got myself the complete one year package, because if you have to pay for it, you force yourself to go, right? Apparently not! You just pay € 25 / month for something you never use and if you are lucky you remember to cancel the membership in time, if not you just pay another year for doing nothing. I also tried to quit smoking at midnight and than started again at 1 am because I was sooo drunk I just craved a cigarette! And of course I promised myself to stop the day after, but we all knew that wasn’t going to happen!
So this year I will be doing things slightly different, I was in time to cancel my gym membership! *YAY more shopping budget* ! I will not quit smoking at midnight and no way in hell I will give up drinking! My new year’s resolution is to have none and that is more than OK! I’d rather have no resolutions at all, than to admit in February that I did not succeed in keeping my promises.
To everyone I might bump into on New Year’s Eve please do not ask me for my resolutions and don’t tell me yours, unless you want to hear me say “Told you so” in a few months.
Sending my love and best wishes for 2017 to everyone and their families.
May your glass be ever full and may all your troubles last as long as your New Year’s resolutions!
